School Yard Improvement Project: Text
We are one of the 2023 Field of Dreams recipients!
On May 10, 2023, we kicked off a groundbreaking event with the Jays Care Foundation. The groundbreaking ceremony symbolizes the beginning of a transformative journey for our school. The new baseball diamond and multi-sports field is being made possible by a generous grant from the Jays Care Foundation. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the help and support of the TDSB, school community, Trustee Dawson and MPP Glover.
School Yard Improvement Project: Welcome
The RCS Parent Council is actively engaged with the TDSB on our schoolyard improvement initiative. Over the next decade, we hope to bring the following improvements:

junior grade playground structure
soccer field
revamped basketball nets/court
improved fencing around the schoolyard
outdoor classroom/learning space
outdoor performance space
learning gardens
​
Phase 1: Now delayed to Summer 2023
Reorganization of entrance to school yard off of Denison Ave.
Simplification of the existing gates
Reorganization of garage bin storage
Reorganization of bicycle racks
Phase 2: 2023-2024
Building of primary grade play structure in grassy area just east of existing hockey nets.
Phase 3: TBD
Installation of higher fencing
Phase 4: TBD
Outdoor classroom space installation
Outdoor performance space/amphitheatre installation
Phase 5: TBD
Repainting of hopscotch/other games on paved areas
Establishment of a soccer pitch

Costs Associated:
TDSB's preliminary plans estimate we will need an additional $100 000 - $150 000, above what will be funded by the TDSB. Parent council will be working tirelessly with our community writ large to achieve this fundraising goal!
